Coalition of Christians Should Act to Save AmericaDuties of Christian Citizens, Bill Bright, Campus Crusade for ChristDear friends: Our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ and not in national governments. However, in whatever government God has placed us in, we are to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-2) and be good citizens (1 Peter 2:13-15). For those of us blessed to be placed in a society with political freedom and the privilege to help select leaders through voting, we have a special obligation. Concerned with complacency by many Christians, years ago I published a little booklet titled, "Your 5 Duties as a Christian Citizen." We are still distributing it today, as its principles are timeless. In it, I quote the great evangelist Charles Finney, who in 1855 wrote: "The time has come that Christians must vote for honest men and take consistent high ground... Christians must do their duty to the country as a part of their duty to God." The first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, John Jay, said, "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it the duty -- as well as the privilege and interest -- of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers." Voting for and supporting moral candidates who support moral public policies are the minimum required of Christian citizens in a system of self-government. Godly people must vote for godly rulers. Christian lawyer Michael Whitehead put it this way: "If America is to be saved, saved Americans must lead the way." Mark Twain understood the importance of a Christian's responsibility as a citizen. He wrote, "A Christian's first duty is to God. It then follows, as a matter of course, that it is his duty to carry his Christian code to the polls and vote them... If Christians should vote their duty to God at the polls, they would carry every election, and do it with ease... it would bring about a moral revolution that would be incalculably beneficent. It would save the country." Would you like to help save your country? In my next letter, I will share your five duties as a Christian citizen. Yours for fulfilling the Great Commission each year until our Lord returns,

Christians should appose mandatory health care and vaccinationsAfter parents whose children had been severely damaged from vaccines attended a couple of congressional hearings, we might have thought Bill Clinton's response would have been, "I feel your pain." Not on your life. The Clinton Administration instead floated plans to gut the federal trust fund that compensates the families of children who are injured or killed by reactions to vaccines. Surgeon General David Satcher told a House committee this month that Health and Human Services Secretary Donna Shalala might recommend that a large portion of the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program's $1.4 billion trust be turned over to vaccine research. That would be a cruel betrayal of the parents who financed this trust fund by a 75 cents per dose assessment on vaccines and were promised compensation from it in exchange for virtually eliminating the pharmaceutical companies' financial liability for injuries caused by their products. The Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS) received 11,000 complaints last year from doctors or parents. In presenting their claims of vaccine damages, parents must face a battery of 17 full-time, veteran Justice Department lawyers assigned to argue against them. These lawyers have been successful in denying compensation to all but 1,300 of 5,300- plus families. The Clinton Administration has tightened the screws to make it become more and more difficult for parents to get any compensation. Since most children today get up to 33 immunizations before they can be admitted to public school, parents are starting to ask a fundamental question. Which is the greater risk: getting and being injured by the disease, or being injured from the vaccine that purports to protect us from it? For example, serious adverse events after receiving the hepatitis B vaccine, including 48 deaths, are reported three times as frequently as cases of hepatitis B in children under the age of 14. And, the only polio cases in the United States since 1991 have been those caused by the oral polio vaccine, whose use was discouraged only a few weeks ago!
Your Duties: - Pray, Register to vote, Become Informed, Help Elect Godly People and Vote Conservative Citizenship in a free country is a blessing from God. Our great system of self-government assures every Christian a voice in the affairs of the nation, and enables us to bring a heavenly perspective to the earthly realm. God wants us to do His will in government, just as in the church and in the home. But too often we have disobeyed our Lord. We have ceased to be the "salt of the earth" and the "light of the world," as Christ has commanded us. As a result, the moral fiber of America is rotting away – and our priceless freedom is in grave jeopardy. Atheism is penetrating every area of our national life. America is faced with the greatest crisis in its history. We are in danger of losing our nation by default, and with it our individual freedoms and possibly our very lives. If that should happen, our opportunity to help fulfill the Great Commission throughout the United States and the world will also be lost. And hundreds of millions will never have an opportunity to receive our Savior. "All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." from British statesman Edmund Burke. Ten Commandments Exodus lActually, only six of the Ten Commandments deal with an individual's moral conduct, which comes as a surprise to most Christians. Essentially, the first four commandments say: 1.Thou shalt have no other gods before me. 2.Thou shalt not make thee any graven images or bow down to them, and if you do I'll get you and your kids and their descendants. 3.Thou shalt not take the name of the lord in vain.
4.Keep the Sabbath holy.
The exact terminology is found in chapter five of Deuteronomy. Two other versions of the "ten commandments" can be found in the Old Testament. One version, in Exodus 20, differs slightly from the Deuteronomy version, while a third, in Exodus 34, is a partial list, containing some of the Ten Commandments and ending with the teaching: "Thou shalt not seethe a kid in its mother's milk." This is the only version referred to in scriptures as the "Ten Commandments."
