Our American Christian History and Christian Heritage

The frames of the Constitution understood the wisdom of making few laws. The fewer the laws, the broader the agreement. Our American Christian History reflects that our American Christian Heritage is clearly foundational in our constitution and in the Declaration of Independence. The broader the agreement, the less need for enforcement. The less enforcement, the less friction between government and the governed. And the less friction, the less waste of time and energy. The time and energy thus freed vastly increase people's creative capacity. That, in a nutshell, is the success story of the United States of America, and is our Christian Heritage in America, which tis the foundation for our Christian based Constitution. Our Christian heritage began with a citizens Christian Constitution.

Christians should Vote, Mark Twain

Christians are a powerful voting bloc in the U.S. but only if they go to the polls and vote for godly candidates. The well-known skeptic and author Mark Twain once said of Christians:

"It will be conceded that a Christian's first duty is to God. It then follows, as a matter of course, that it is his duty to carry his Christian code of morals to the polls and vote them. Whenever he shall do that, he will not find himself voting for an unclean man, a dishonest man. If Christians would vote their duty to God at the polls, they would carry every election, and do it with ease. Their prodigious power would be quickly realized and recognized, and afterward there would be no unclean candidates upon any ticket, and graft would cease. If the Christians of America could be persuaded to vote God and a clean ticket, it would bring about a moral revolution that would be incalculably beneficent. It would save the country."
Colliers magazine, September 2, 1904

Mark Twain understood the importance of a Christian's responsibility as a citizen. He wrote, "A Christian's first duty is to God. It then follows, as a matter of course, that it is his duty to carry his Christian code to the polls and vote them... If Christians should vote their duty to God at the polls, they would carry every election, and do it with ease... it would bring about a moral revolution that would be incalculably beneficent. It would save the country."

Christian Voting Guide 2014

We will have lists of candidates for a Christian Voting Guide for local and state wide candidates for the 2014 elections.

GO VOTE Church Bulletin Announcements - Choose one of the Following:

Remember to Vote on Tuesday. We will be electing local, statewide, and congressional candidates. Voting is your God given Constitutional right that most citizens of other countries do not have. Polls are open from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

Vote on Tuesday (Date) Voting is a patriotic duty and gives you the opportunity to impact your culture with your Christian values. We will be selecting our leaders for local, state, and congressional offices.

Remember Election Day, Tuesday. Voting is a privilege and an important patriotic duty. Forward this to your church secretary and to your friends to be published in their church bulletin. Because Christians do not vote in significant numbers, our influence upon society is waning. In the primary elections this year, Christian voter turnout was about 25% from people in your church. Publishing one of the above announcements will increase voter participation 10 to 15%. Ask your pastor or who ever makes announcements to verbally make the announcement to go vote. This will increase voter participation an additional 10%.

Your Duties: - Pray, Register to vote, Become Informed, Help Elect Godly People and Vote Conservative Citizenship in a free country is a blessing from God. Our great system of self-government assures every Christian a voice in the affairs of the nation, and enables us to bring a heavenly perspective to the earthly realm. God wants us to do His will in government, just as in the church and in the home.

But too often we have disobeyed our Lord. We have ceased to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world, as Christ has commanded us. As a result, the moral fiber of America is rotting away and our priceless freedom is in grave jeopardy. Atheism is penetrating every area of our national life. America is faced with the greatest crisis in its history. We are in danger of losing our nation by default, and with it our individual freedoms and possibly our very lives. If that should happen, our opportunity to help fulfill the Great Commission throughout the United States and the world will also be lost. And hundreds of millions will never have an opportunity to receive our Savior.

Duties of Christian Citizens, Bill Bright, Campus Crusade for Christ

Dear friends:
Our hope is in the Lord Jesus Christ and not in national governments. However, in whatever government God has placed us in, we are to pray for our leaders (1 Timothy 2:1-2) and be good citizens (1 Peter 2:13-15).
For those of us blessed to be placed in a society with political freedom and the privilege to help select leaders through voting, we have a special obligation.

The first Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court, John Jay, said, "Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it the duty -- as well as the privilege and interest -- of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."
Voting for and supporting moral candidates who support moral public policies are the minimum required of Christian citizens in a system of self-government. Godly people must vote for godly rulers.
Christian lawyer Michael Whitehead put it this way: "If America is to be saved, saved Americans must lead the way."

Would you like to help save your country? In my next letter, I will share your five duties as a Christian citizen.

Yours for fulfilling the Great Commission each year until our Lord returns.

The above was written by Bill Bright. Dr. Bill Bright is founder and original chairman of Campus Crusade for Christ

Our American Christian Heritage

One need not be a practitioner of any religion to appreciate the enormous significance that the Ten Commandments had in America's Christian heritage founding, regardless of their origin. Of course, although the reader may not, our American Christian heritage founders did believe in their divine origin. Is is worth the cost to put your kids in Christian Schools? -

Charles Finney - Christians Citizens Must Vote

Concerned with complacency by many Christians, years ago I published a little booklet titled, "Your 5 Duties as a Christian Citizen." We are still distributing it today, as its principles are timeless. In it, I quote the great evangelist Charles Finney, who in 1855 wrote: "The time has come that Christians must vote for honest men and take consistent high ground... Christians must do their duty to the country as a part of their duty to God."

Importance of Voting

In 1645, one vote gave Oliver Cromwell control of England.
In 1714, one vote placed King George I on the throne of England and restored the monarchy.

In 1800, the electoral college met in the respective states to cast their two votes for President. At that time, the U.S. Constitution provided the candidate receiving the most electoral votes would become President and the candidate receiving the second highest number of votes would become Vice President. When the results of the electoral college votes were opened by both houses of Congress, there was a tie vote for President between Thomas Jefferson and Aaron Burr. That threw the election of President into the House of Representatives where Thomas Jefferson was elected our third president by a one vote margin

In 1876, no presidential contender received a majority of electoral votes so the determination of the country's president was again thrown into the U.S. House of Representatives. By a one vote margin, Rutherford B. Hayes became the new U.S. president. When Tilden's party protested the tabulation and demanded a recount, Congress established a 15-member electoral commission to again count the electoral votes and declare the result. By an eight to seven margin - again, one vote -- the commission affirmed the count and gave the election and presidency to Hayes.
In 1889, by a one vote margin, Washington was admitted to statehood with the union.
In 1890, by a one vote margin, Idaho became a state.
In 1916, if presidential hopeful Charles E. Hughes had receive one additional vote in each of California's precincts, he would have defeated President Woodrow Wilson's re-election bid.

On November 8, 1923, members of the then recently -- formed revolutionary political party met to elect a leader in a Munich, Germany beer hall. By a majority of one vote they chose an ex-soldier named Adolph Hitler to become the Nazi Party leader.
In 1941, the Selective Service Act (the draft) was saved by a one vote margin -- just weeks before Pearl Harbor was attacked.
In 1948, a Texas convention voted for Lyndon B. Johnson over ex-Governor Coke Stevens in a contested Senatorial election. Lyndon Johnson because U.S. Senator by a one vote margin.

In 1948, if Thomas E. Dewey had gotten one vote more per precinct in Ohio and California, the presidential election would have been thrown into the U.S. House of Representatives where Dewey enjoyed more support than his rival -- incumbent Harry Truman. As it was, Dewey was expected to win the general election by a landslide so most Republicans stayed home. Only 51.5 percent of the electorate voted. Truman defeated Dewey.

Liberal Republicans, our central problem.

It was the Republican Warren Court that removed the prayer and Bible reading from the schools. It was Republicans in the US Senate that failed to opposed the Clinton Motor Voter Law, that resulted in the registration of millions of welfare recipients. That one law has resulted in the net gain of several dozen of Democrat Congressman and the ultimate loss of Republican control of Congress. The blame clearly belongs to Republican Senators whose votes resulted in the passage of this bill. Those Arizona liberal Republicans wanted to demonstrate that they could reach across the aisle and work with Democrats, the example so often demonstrated by the nonpartisan, maverick John McCain. No John McCain we are not impressed that you can be a maverick and help liberal Democrats pass bad legislation.

The classic McCain-Feingold Act to suppress the conservative and Christian voice has turned out not to be a good thing. We Republicans seem to give a free pass to John McCain even though his positions as presidential candidate are contrary to his votes on drilling for oil, against the Bush Tax Cuts, and for abortion and gun control.

The failed leadership of Republican Liberalism is the reason the Republican Party took a whipping at the polls in 2006 and in 2008.

While Obama is a clear abomination or Obomination, McCain has a record of pushing the liberal record. As Ann Coulter says, McCain will leave the Republican Party in shambles. John McCain lost because 6 million voters who voted for George W. Bush in 2004, failed to go vote Republican in 2008. With John McCain pushing for Amnesty and voting with the Democrats on key issues like drilling for oil or the Traditional Marriage Amendment, it was hard for many to even consider voting for McCain, with the biggest reason is that the alternative was Obama.

Congress may approve an immigration bill that will grant citizenship rights to most of the 12 million to 20 million illegal aliens in the U.S. after Democrats take control next month, predict both sides on Capitol Hill.

Democrats in both chambers say they will start with some form of legislation first drafted by Sens. John McCain, Arizona Republican, and Edward M. Kennedy, Massachusetts Democrat, which was the basis for the bill that was approved earlier last year by the Senate. John McCain has proven to be weak on pro life, and so has other name brand Republicans.

Missouri Senate and Congressional Candidates Pro Life 2014

Missouri Democrats are pouncing on a moment from Friday’s radio debate between the three Republican candidates for Senate, who are seeking to oppose vulnerable Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill. None of them could correctly answer a question about the minimum wage: Namely, what is the current minimum wage?

South Carolina Pro Life Conservative Candidates

She said the wage is “high enough as it is,” and that a higher wage can have the unintended consequence of creating a barrier to young people entering the labor market.

Rep. Todd Akin of Missouri took the strongest line against the minimum wage itself as a concept: “I don’t think the government should be setting the prices or wages on different things. I don’t think that’s the function of the government. We have a government that whenever any government says we have to spend this much for this product or that product or you’ve got to pay this wage or whatever, that’s basically government control of marketplace. It always its destructive and disruptive.”

Michigan Senate and Congressional Candidates Pro Life 2014

Michigan will elect a Republican to replace a Democrat Senator. Several contested congressional races in MI.

Minnesota Senate and Congressional Candidates Pro Life 2014

Will Minnesota elect a Republican pro life Senator in 2014, and a conservative congress. A former patient who sought help from the Christian counseling clinic owned by GOP presidential hopeful Michele Bachmann and her husband, Marcus, told ABC News he was advised that prayer could rid him of his homosexual urges and he could eventually be "re-oriented." "[One counselor's] path for my therapy would be to read the Bible, pray to God that I would no longer be gay," said Andrew Ramirez, who was 17-years-old at the time he sought help from Bachmann & Associates in suburban Minneapolis in 2004. "And God would forgive me if I were straight." In the past, Marcus Bachmann has disputed the clinic has treated gay patients this way. But Ramirez's account, which was first reported by The Nation, is similar to the counseling session that appears on new undercover video shot by a gay rights advocacy group last month. That footage shows another counselor at the Bachmann clinic telling a gay man posing as a patient that, with prayer and effort, he could eventually learn to be attracted to women and rid himself of his gay urges.

New York Senate and Congressional Candidates Pro Life 2014

Wendy Long is a conservative favorite. Another republican candidate, Bob Turner announced his candidacy for the Senate. He enters a crowded race against current New York Senator and democrat Kirstin Gillibrand. Turner is in his first congressional term representing Queens. Congressman Turner joined the House after the photo scandal surrounding democrat Anthony Weiner, who later resigned.

"The president interprets the Constitution as president," Gingrich said. "If the court makes a fundamentally wrong decision, president can in fact ignore the courts."
Several competitive California candidates have stepped up to the plate. In addition the California Legislature will be voted on as well.

New Jersey Senate and Congressional Candidates Pro Life 2014

U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) continues to lead his likely challenger but his numbers remain soft, according to a poll released this morning. Menendez leads his likely opponent in November, state Sen. Joseph Kyrillos, 42 percent to 33 percent, according to the Fairleigh Dickinson University Public Mind poll of 797 registered voters. That lead is virtually unchanged from another FDU poll in March. But when asked to choose between “someone else” and Menendez, voters pick “someone else” 37 percent to 30 percent — the exact same margin as in March. “Menendez is not a name brand in New Jersey, even among Democrats,” said poll director Peter Woolley, who called Menendez’s numbers “flabby.” Added Woolley: “He has spent considerable time raising money for his colleagues in the US Senate, but he has kept a relatively low profile in New Jersey.” But if Menendez is not a brand, Kyrillos is virtually unknown. Sixty-eight percent of voters haven’t heard of him. Several races for congress will be contested.

Wisconsin Senate and Congressional Candidates Pro Life 2014

n the battle between pro-life Gov. Scott Walker and pro-abortion recall election challenge Tom Barrett, pro-life voters have a clear decision. With a new video and election information website it unveiled today, Wisconsin Right to Life is driving home those major differences between the governor and his Democratic rival on abortion. Today, Wisconsin Right to Life PAC unveiled its state-of-the-art recall election website, Wisconsin Right to Life Election Center. The website includes comprehensive information about all of the candidates running for Governor, Lt. Governor and the four State Senate races in contention on June 5. “Our election website is truly THE place for right-to-life voters to come to find out where the candidates stand on issues affecting the sanctity of human life and which candidates the Wisconsin Right to Life PAC has endorsed in these very important elections,” said Susan Armacost, WRTL/PAC Director. Armacost told LifeNews: “While collective bargaining and public employee benefits may have ignited the flurry of recall elections in our state, the fact is that each of the targeted public officials are strong right-to-life supporters and their opponents are pro-abortion to the core. The stakes for unborn children in these recall elections are extremely high. The Wisconsin Right to Life Election Center will be very helpful to the tens of thousands of right-to-life supporters who will head to the polls on June 5.” “While in the state legislature and in Congress, Barrett had one of the worst right-to-life voting records we have ever seen,” said Armacost. “These videos will be a real eye-opener to voters in Wisconsin when they are presented with the facts about Tom Barrett’s blatant disregard for human life.”

Virginia Senate and Congressional Candidates Pro Life 2014

Presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney's shaky standing with conservative voters continues to trouble him in battleground Virginia, where the four Republican U.S. Senate candidates are reluctant to embrace their party's soon-to-be anointed leader. None of the four Virginia Senate candidates embraced Romney during the four months of presidential primaries and caucuses. And when asked again during a weekend debate whether they would support the man who will face President Obama this fall, none offered a resounding endorsement. Former Gov. George Allen, the front-runner in the VA Senate race, was complimentary of Romney. His three opponents -- pastor E.W. Jackson, Del. Bob Marshall of Manassas and Tea Party leader Jamie Radtke -- didn't even go that far, even though Romney is virtually certain to be their party's nominee.
